Data for Individual Fires

The BAER Imagery Support program provides a set of publicly available data products for each fire requested by a BAER team including pre-fire and post-fire imagery, a differenced NBR, a burn area boundary, a cloud mask file (if available) and metadata. Following the BAER assessment, a validated SBS classification may also become available at the discretion of the BAER team.

The interactive viewer on the interagency Burn Severity Portal (BSP) provides access to data from BAER imagery support requests for individual fires. The viewer allows the user to search for a specific fire by name or to select fires using spatial and temporal filters. In most cases for fires that occurred after 2012, the user can specify which products to include and can download data for multiple fires in a single request. For fires occurring prior to 2012 and in limited situations thereafter, data is provided as a pre-packaged zip file including all products available for that fire.

Note: These products are intended for use in a GIS and require GIS software for full utilization.

National Datasets

Classified soil burn severity data for fires assessed by USDA Forest Service BAER teams is mosaicked for all fires where soil burn severity data was made available by the BAER team. Data is now provided in both raster and vector formats through the following services.
